– Partners with NEO BATTERY MATERIALS to develop high-performance drone batteries, combining Korean UAV platforms and battery technology for greater global competitiveness
PRENEU Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Jong-kyung), a Korean UAV manufacturer and technology company, has signed an agreement with NEO BATTERY MATERIALS (CEO Spencer Huh) to jointly develop high-performance drone batteries and expand into the Canadian market. NEO Battery Materials Korea (NBMK) will also participate as a strategic partner, supporting technology development, production, and commercialization in Korea and overseas.
At the core of the partnership is the integration of PRENEU’s Korean-developed and manufactured UAV platforms with Korean battery technology to build high-performance drone systems. The collaboration also aims to strengthen a secure and resilient Non-Chinese supply chain, addressing growing requirements across global government, public safety, and defense markets while reducing reliance on Chinese critical components.
PRENEU will play a central role in UAV design, flight control, mission operations, system integration, and flight validation. Based on platform specifications and mission requirements, PRENEU will define battery performance requirements and conduct integration, flight testing, and validation on its UAV platforms.
NEO BATTERY MATERIALS will leverage NBMK’s electrode and cell technologies, together with its battery-pack design and manufacturing capabilities, to develop high-energy-density battery cells and packs optimized specifically for PRENEU UAV platforms.
Rather than simply increasing battery capacity, the companies will optimize the battery system around overall mission performance—including flight endurance, payload, range, operational capability, and safety. The goal is to deliver high-performance UAV solutions tailored to public safety, disaster response, industrial, and defense missions.
The partnership further strengthens PRENEU’s Korean technology-based UAV ecosystem by combining a Korean-developed UAV platform with Korean battery technology. As data security and supply-chain resilience become increasingly critical in global procurement, PRENEU aims to position itself as a trusted Non-Chinese UAV solution provider.
The companies will also use the LOI as a platform to pursue opportunities in Canada, including government and public-sector drone projects, local demonstrations, commercialization, and public procurement programs. PRENEU plans to offer integrated UAV solutions combining its platforms, operational systems, and purpose-built battery technology for Canadian mission requirements.
